The Spiral Vibration Damper eliminates damage from Aeolian vibration on bare conductors and cables by dissipating high-frequency, low-amplitude oscillations caused by laminar wind flow. Widely applied on distribution spans and telecommunications infrastructure, it prevents long-term fatigue on small-diameter cables, including ADSS cables, OPGW, overhead shield wires, and covered conductors in spans over 800 feet.

Constructed from weather-resistant, non-corrosive Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or plastic materials, the damper provides high strength, aging resistance, and elasticity. Formulated to withstand corrosive environments, Ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and continuous operation up to 125°C, it maintains durability without stretching or contracting in outdoor conditions.

The design features a large, helically-formed damping section that interacts with the cable to create action/reaction motion opposing natural vibration waves. A smaller gripping section gently holds the conductor without concentrated mass or clamping stress, protecting cable sheaths and optical fibers. The helical shape enables effective energy dissipation and is not placement-sensitive, allowing installation anywhere away from other attachments. Units accommodate cable diameters from 0.250 to 0.750 inches, with total lengths of 1160 mm to 1670 mm and weights between 0.24 kg and 0.66 kg.

Installation requires positioning the damper 6 to 8 inches from hardware such as armor rods or suspension clamps. The gripping section wraps around the cable by hand until fully covered, ensuring secure attachment without tools.
